Barbaricum is seeking a senior-level Strategic Communications professional to provide services to a fast-paced and dynamic program supporting the U.S. military 4 star-led, joint command United States Forces Korea (USFK) in South Korea. This individual will organize and lead inter-departmental meetings focused on strategic communications initiatives including making recommendations for internal and public messaging and conceptualizing public relations campaigns and activities at both the strategic and tactical levels to support the commanding general's objectives and desired end-states. The Specialist must be a United States citizen and possess an active Secret U.S. Government security clearance or higher. Responsibilities
  • Develops, synchronizes, and implements communication strategy and engagement plans to maximize the intent in support of UNC/CFC/USFK.
  • Develop and present synthesized information that is meaningful to inform, influence, explain, and engage various intended audiences.
  • Responsible for leading the creation and communication strategic planning efforts for the Communication Strategy (CS) Division to align with the Commands’ vision.
  • Analyze news stories, social media postings and feature articles.
  • Apply principles methods, practices, and techniques of written and oral communications to engage the Command’s audiences via a wide variety of public affairs tools.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of media operations and functions and promote an understanding of the complex relationship between media and the military operations (including Strategic amp; Operational Planning, Public Affairs, and Information Operations).
  • Develop integrated communication strategies and content, working with partners to change narratives and behavior in support of the USFK mission.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local and national media representatives and community groups.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of tri-command staff agencies, the public affairs community, and a wide spectrum of public and private groups who are engaged on social media platforms to support the development of UCJ5 communication strategy.
  • Build and deliver oral presentations to various internal and external groups to explain the Command’s use of social media platforms to disseminate the Command’s themes and messages.
  • Leverage an understanding of the detailed organizational structure, programs, and responsibilities of UNC, CFC, USFK, Component Commands, Embassy Country Teams, and other interagency to inform the CS Division leadership and senior leaders on communication strategy risks, opportunities, and recommendations to support senior decision makers.
  • Present written ideas through publications, position papers, correspondence, news releases, and a variety of other media; convey information clearly, completely, and accurately with an ability to analyze and evaluate a wide variety of input from the digital media outlets to develop appropriate recommendations and decisions to achieve communication strategic objectives.
  • Write succinctly and proficiently to prepare Communication Strategy publications and deliverables for daily battle rhythm events (perform or approve copyedits, ensure necessary approvals, and arrange for formatting and publication).
