Sr. Labor amp; Employment Counsel, APAC Match Group
Match Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced labor and employment lawyer to act as its Senior Corporate Counsel, Labor amp; Employment, responsible for actively managing all labor and employment law-related matters across Match Group’s portfolio of leading brands in its APAC region. Match Group’s exciting portfolio of leading brands include Tinder, Eureka, Hyperconnect, OkCupid, Hinge, and many others.

The successful candidate will leverage prior law firm, and preferably corporate/in-house experience, to establish best practices in legal matters relating to employee relations, compensation and compliance matters and will report to our Director, Sr. Counsel Global Labor and Employment. The position will be based in either Tokyo, Japan, or Seoul, Korea.
Responsibilities will include:Advising on all global employment law-related matters, including strategic Human Resources initiatives, employee relations, wage and hour matters, benefits, compensation, equity, diversity amp; inclusion, labor-management relations, and compliance with local laws and ordinances in the countries in which we operate with employees.Drafting employment contracts, severance agreements and other employment-related documents.Provide advice across all businesses concerning human resources related issues, including wrongful termination, discrimination, disability accommodations, wage-hour, compliance with local laws and ordinances.Counseling on internal investigations into employee complaints or other concerns, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly, thoroughly, and appropriately.Managing employment support matters experienced by a dynamic global workforce, including functional understanding of the impacts of local corporate entity requirements, immigration requirements, corporate tax strategy, and employment classification and strategic management of non-employment relationships.Updating corporate Human Resources policies and related materials to remain consistent with current, local legal requirements.Proactively researching, developing, implementing and managing employment legal compliance initiatives in partnership with the Human Resources department.Working with Human Resources to develop and deliver relevant training, as appropriate.Assisting with the employment law-related matters associated with engaging Human Resources in new international markets as Match Group rapidly expands its presence in its APAC region.Working with in-house and outside litigation counsel on federal, state and international litigation, administrative proceedings and arbitrations involving employment law matters.Providing employment law expertise and support for Mamp;A transactions and divestitures.Partnering with Match Group’s global team of lawyers who operate on a regional basis to provide the foregoing services to all lines of businesses.
Qualifications include:Qualification to practice law in Japan or Korea, with a Japan or Korea Bar Admission.J.D. or L.L.B. from a Japanese or Korean university/law school; an overseas law school background is a plus.7+ years’ experience, including with a top law firm and/or a fast-paced, in-house legal environment; experience in a multi-national legal department is a plus.Prior employment law experience required.
