Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a market leader to grow Skyports’ presence in South Korea by working across both group companies; Skyports Infrastructure and Skyports Drone Services.

The role will include being the face of Skyports in South Korea, executing on existing opportunities, generating new leads, developing and managing relationships with the government and key decision makers, managing local investor relationships and building a team capable of delivering highly ambitious projects. The successful candidate will be Skyports first permanent employee in South Korea and will be expected to lead on office set up, day to day operations and expansion for the company in the region.

The role will initially support both group companies equally with business development, government relations and day-to-day operations.

Based in South Korea (preferably Seoul or Busan), the role will involve travel, especially around South Korea and to other Skyports locations (UK, Singapore, others).


For Skyports Drone Services, you will

  • Build and manage commercial opportunities with Skyports’ partners across both the drone delivery and inspection sectors.
  • Build world class operational, commercial, regulatory and technology teams, overseeing effective and efficient day-to-day drone operations.
  • Work closely with Skyports Drone Services’ Functional/Regional Heads located in London and Singapore on project implementation and regional expansion into new countries.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in day-to-day operations.

For Skyports Infrastructure, you will

  • Develop and execute on our infrastructure rollout strategy with our partners in South Korea.
  • Project manage vertiport development projects, including consultancy and client work.
  • Develop a pipeline of new infrastructure development opportunities with prospective clients in the region.
  • Work with planning and other regulatory authorities to secure permissions and consents to develop and operate infrastructure.
  • Liaise with vehicle OEMs and operators on infrastructure requirements.
  • Contribute to commercial agreements, including sourcing and responding to RFIs and RFPs.

Overall, you will

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key government authorities, regulators and decision makers.
  • Manage Skyports business entities, set up local office and hire a local team to support growth of the business.
  • Represent Skyports at meetings and events, including delivering presentations.
  • Report to Functional/Regional Heads located in London and Singapore

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of proven track record in doing business in South Korea, preferably in aviation sectors with extensive experience in dealing with government and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in business development and managing commercial relationships and delivering projects for local clients.
  • Proven ability to plan, lead and manage complex projects and concurrent work-streams across multiple business functions, many with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • A highly motivated, proactive, self-starter and team-player who likes a challenge and has the ingenuity and resilience to find the solutions to overcome them.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in South Korean and English language to execute on our projects, and to build strong networks and relationships.
  • Ability to problem solve on the fly; someone who can ask the questions that have not been asked and can find the answers too.
  • Being comfortable navigating through ambiguity as this is new industry and no one yet has all the answers.
  • Flexibility to travel.
